During your six weeks at summer camp, you’ll improve your legal foundation, receive pep talks from creative biz owners you admire, and flex your creative muscles.

June 19-25
To kick camp off, you’ll be thinking about how you define success for your business.
For your camp challenge, I’ll be helping you think about what success means for your business.
For your camp pep talk, Jennifer Lee will be talking about how to create a plan for your creative business.
For your camp activity, Joan Goodspeed will be helping you take an intention or affirmation and turn it into a power rune.
June 26-July 2
Week 2, you’ll learn the bare minimum legal tasks that you need to do for your creative biz.
For your camp challenge, I’ll be sharing the tasks that I think are a requirement for every creative business.
For your camp pep talk, Lisa Congdon will be talking about how to build (and balance) revenue streams in your business.
We’ll also be having our first campfire chat on June 28th at 5:00 PM Pacific | 8:00 PM Eastern! And Joan will be joining us live to do tarot card readings.
During the third week, your focus will turn to tidying up your virtual home AKA your website.
For your camp challenge, I’ll be giving you a template so you can get a privacy policy on your website in 30 minutes!
For your camp pep talk, Arianne Foulks will be helping you improve your ecommerce website.
For your camp activity, I’ll be sharing how to turn your favorite fruits into a deliciously refreshing summer beverage!
July 10-16
Week 4, you’ll think about when taking action on copycats is (and isn’t) worth it.
For your camp challenge, I’ll be helping you create an action plan for when you will (and won’t) go after copycats of your brand.
For your camp pep talk, Emily McDowell will be sharing her strategies for dealing with copycats of her brand.
We’ll also be having our second campfire chat on July 12th at 5:00 PM Pacific | 8:00 PM Eastern! And Meighan O’Toole will be joining us to talk about how to build an online community that supports your goals.
During the fifth week, you’ll think about my favorite topic, contracts!
For your camp challenge, I’ll be explaining how a simple email can create a contract.
For your camp pep talk, Lisa Anderson Shaffer will be dropping why setting boundaries make you a kinder biz owner.
We’ll also be having our final campfire chat on July 19th at 5:00 PM Pacific | 8:00 PM Eastern! And Lisa Congdon will be joining us to dive deep into creating, juggling, and setting aside revenue streams in your business.
July 24-30
During the final week, you’ll focus on setting your priorities for the rest of the summer.
For your camp challenge, I’ll be helping you decide how to prioritize legal projects as your business grows.
For your camp pep talk, Tiffany Han will help you craft a plan to keep the progress you made during camp going.
For your camp activity, Ashley Nickels will be helping you sew a sleep mask, so you can relax after all your hard work!

$6 is the minimum request – that’s only a dollar a week!
$17 might be good if you want to contribute a little bit more
$27 will help cover the administrative costs of hosting summer camp
$47 is the “regular” price and helps us continue to put ease in the legalese of running a creative business
$67 is a generous contribution that helps pay it forward for creatives who cannot invest as much in their businesses right now

Can I join camp after it starts?
Yes! You’ll miss out on any emails that were sent before you joined. But you’ll have access to all the camp materials via the camp page so you won’t miss out on any of the materials.
Who is TAJD Camp for?
TAJD camp is perfect for anyone running a creative business: makers, artists, handmade business owners, coaches, infopreneurs, consultants, teachers. Basically anyone creative and determined to make a living from it!
My summer is busy! How much time will this take?
TAJD Camp is all about fun! It’s not supposed to be time-consuming or stressful. And we’ve designed it so you’ll commit no more than two hours per week. (Camp challenges should take you no more than 30 minutes, pep talks will be less than 10 minutes, and camp activities should take about an hour.)
And you are free to only do those activities that spark joy and excitement in you! Since camp is supposed to be fun!
Where will TAJD Camp be held?
Wherever you are! You’ll get three camp emails right in your inbox each week. And our campfire chats will be held via Crowdcast, so you can join from the comfort of your home, studio, office, or on your own summer vacation!
How will I access the content?
You’ll be able to access the content, right from your inbox! Most of the content will be delivered via email. And the rest (videos, workbooks, or suggested tools) will be as simple as clicking a link.

I’m also a photographer, fellow creative business owner, and lawyer living in Oakland, California. The law fascinates me. That’s the reason I went to law school, started my own law practice, and love practicing law.

In fact, the idea for the TAJD Camp came about in one of my own “burn everything to the ground” moments! And rather than running away, I decided to cultivate a place where I too could get back in touch with my creativity and remember that the ebbs and flows happen to all of us.
