Good morning everyone. Another in session in session is a weekly series that I do kind of designed to help you build a strong foundation for your creative does that so that when the right opportunities come along you can seize those opportunities and every once in awhile I like to bring a guest experts who can complement of a kind of different skill sets that I definitely don’t house about how to build a strong foundation your creative business so today I’m I’m really excited to bring kind of my go to expert and resource that I always ask questions too on helping creative business owners especially product these businesses set up and create an online store and really succeed and connect with their clients and customers you’re having a greatly designed website that makes it really easy arm and reduces or shouldn’t apply as well as having the branding and the beautiful and boxing experience and everything else that. So welcome today I couldn’t what are you excited to talk to us about today. I spent the last week writing this huge document that is the basics of everything I know about conversion rate in getting more traffic to your site and that’s the only thing I’ve been thinking about her like a week or 2 now so right now if you hit me with questions I probably don’t know the answer. Are you sent it over to me last night and I was really quickly tried to get up before we started and it’s amazing guys it’s like 30 something pages of everything you need to know about kind of making more money. So here’s some PDF right in the chart right now so that you can hop over and grab that. The link below us says grab the issue also has another article kind of on which I think you kind of quickly cover in the media about that you wrote about how you determine your conversion yours talking about this workshop in what you thought was the kind of pre requisite for everyone you said to know how to find your conversion rate on and so if you click the link below that says grab the issue you’ll find the article as well as. 7 or 8 others about building your online presence there’s one in there about how to stay legit when it comes to your email marketing help you get quick and dirty privacy policies and terms of service on your website so that you can be legally compliant their own and then information about testimonials and how you can’t just slap a testimonial on as soon as someone sends it to you on your sales page on without doing a few things on it so there’s resources in there as well on that so I’m sure we’ve got lots of shop owners in here you know kind of I think the common frustrations that you probably hear often are either I’m not getting on sales or I’ve got lots of traffic and they’re not turning it so either there’s not the traffic to generate a sale your conversion rate media all point but you’re just not getting traffic or you’re getting a ton of traffic and maybe it’s not the right kind of traffic or you’ve got many problems with your website that are meeting those people are becoming fighters. Do you think that’s kind of probably the major frustration pain point that a lot of people are experiencing yeah there are a lots of places to get back in feel confused I get email from people a lot where they wanted to wear their site isn’t working and then when I do a little digging into their stats with them I find out that they’re not actually getting enough traffic to know what they’re saying is working or not because if you’re only getting a few visits any data you try to gather is actually to be statistically insignificant you just have no way of knowing. Right science backgrounds biology backgrounds and so we’re like that. This is just not gonna work we don’t have a good work. Yeah and so I think that that kind of so how do you you’re saying that you’re digging into people’s stats what are these data and data that you should be looking. Right so I’m kind of a data nerds so when people write me and ask question I like to have some input he used to actually answer it when you know at least an educated guess it so I’ll just ask a couple basic things I need to know how many mysteries you’ve gotten in the last month or 2 and then how many sales you’ve gotten in the last month or 2 and then we can use that information to find out what your conversion rate if you’re getting a lot of traffic that conversion rate is probably pretty accurate if you’re only getting a handful of people you know they probably wondered over your site by accident don’t really know why they are so we don’t really know is that what they’re doing on the site is accurate to what people would want to be there would be doing so we like to talk about getting targeted traffic. I think the example I use in that document I just wrote was that if you get 30000 hits from a motorcycle in the easiest website that’s not gonna help you out very much if you make surround mix. Well. You don’t know what the problem is your website there or if you just a whole bunch of people visiting your website who were never going to buy anyway so it’s just really important to you kind of dig in there look around and see what’s going on in figuring out what kind of people are visiting your site and then you can decide how much you trust that deny you got there yeah yeah and that’s definitely something that I noticed is sometimes people wakes him to my site from something that like they just want this one teeny little piece of article it’s not kind of the core offering of my business and it’s great trip its traffic but it’s not the kind of traffic that I’m looking at. So how do you know what is good versus bad traffic how do you know what that targeted traffic. My gosh I news that Rachel says her dad makes ceramic motorcycle sculpture. That’s amazing I’ve used to really getting. Well be great for rituals that it would be terrible for someone yeah. Right so when you’re coming up with your marketing strategy like when you’re trying to figure out who you’re going to talk to online and what you’re going to say to them it’s really important to know who would be most interested in purchasing your product and that is where you can come up with your target customer profile where you think of the one most perfect person for your business and then you want to find out where they actually hang out online what their concerns are what they’re interested in what their style is and then you can start trying to drive the kind of traffic that’s most likely to buy from you not just random traffic yeah yeah so really neat kind of honing in on that core customer first and then I’m using that to build either some sort of profile about where that person hanging out online or those kinds of things so that you can do it that way is that kind of. The trend of that confusion often goes hand in hand like people. Don’t know why they’re not getting any sales but they also have no idea who they’re talking to you here when they’re trying to sell their product the getting really clear about the first thing makes everything else make a lot more sense so knowing what it is that you make like knowing what’s different about your business and your products that people can’t get from even your closest competitor is how I like to think about it coming up with something totally unique and then knowing what person is going to value that the most then you have the tools when the info you need to figure out how you want to try to reach those people and where you want to reach them and then you start getting a stream of targeted traffic like just the right people to your site then you can really understand how well your site is working so. There’s 2 things that are really important in trying to get more sales you need to get a bunch more traffic that’s great and it should be targeted traffic but if you’re getting lots and lots of traffic and those people are converting into sales as often as you like if your conversion rate is really low then you’re really missing the boat there so you’re sending tons of traffic but it’s not going to pay off for the second part is making your site worked really well. That’s super important for making the sale that you want to make their stock can also be expensive you know to get it to get it done properly so if you are someone who’s just kind of starting out and you don’t necessarily have a big budget to spend all that what are some of those small tweaks and things that you can experiment with to kind of make those improvements. Yes so if you’ve got your site set up and you’ve got people coming to it they’re buying and everything seems to be going decently or at least you know you like you’re on the right path you might want to dig in and start improving your website so then when you go ahead and pay for Facebook ads it’s gonna pay off better your site working better so there’s a few main places to take a look at your website and see if you can make it better one is the shipping rates I think that is one of the hugest reasons that people are going to start shopping get some stuff in the car and then we’ll see the shipping and go well I’m not thinking that and they disappear and you’ve lost them so. I know when I’m shopping that I kind of set the price on the product he just like I’m looking in a dress or whatever and I’m like $42 yeah I guess I could be that and then if I go to check out it’s like plus $10 shipping only $50 now where you create. Yeah dressing cost $50 on the product page I would buy with that and then gone ahead to check out so you really want it balance what you’re charging for shipping with what the product costs and you want to see like one trick that people use it as they will offer free shipping if you add a certain amount like a dollar amount of products to your cart like spend $50 get free shipping kind of thing the reason that’s common is people left reaches me. They love it and encourages them to buy more so if your average order value like if you know most people spend $30 when they check out and you wish they were spending 40 you can try free shipping with $40 and see how that works out got no I’ve heard Lee let’s say that before that you figure out what your average cart order is and set your free shipping just slightly above that to encourage people to put one more thing and art Carney. I want to tempt him to go just a little bit farther with you and ask the shopper myself I know that I’d much rather pay $10 and get like an extra pair of leggings and pay $10 for shipping which feels like nothing right. Just a little bit more and. Yeah I’m so just a minute ago you. Mentioned a lot of you kind of quotable reason this play any kind of things figuring out who your ideal customer is and where they’re hanging out and all that. Earlier this year I create incredible one next year based on questions I was getting a lot about do a legally need a business plan I’m inside the link to that in the comments instead something you kind of need to hone in on another kind of one sheet way exercise to think about out by inserting a couple questions speaking of questions we do have an ask a question button below as. And I know there’s one question in there right now if I think that the question ties right into the topic we’re discussing all bring it in and address it right then otherwise I’m just going to kind of hold them towards the end for kind of eggs you in a kind of action. Amanda had asked where did I see the info about using testimonials was arm at that is not out of. Below me that says grab the issue it is in there and it specifically addresses for those of you who have at the stores. Where else how else you can use customer information you get from C. and C. is really particular through their terms of service about how else you can use the customer information I’m and so there is a specific side bar in there about how you can use testimonials which kind of addresses Rachel’s question as well. So perfect so I’m you know we’ve kind of talked about improving your site I know in your PDF and I know from previously talking to you there are find ways that you can only find ways that you have to worry about to drive traffic to your site of it so once we kind of know who we’re targeting and I’m kind of what kind of traffic we’re looking to drive what are these ways are gonna think about driving traffic to your site. Find ways so thinking about driving traffic to your site can feel really overwhelming if it’s not something you’ve done before. And I feel like a lot of people think social media and then they stopped. But that is not necessarily the best way to drive traffic to your site so the by ways to get traffic to your site our search engine optimization which is pretty much just Google I know other search and that’s kind of things you know everybody does Pinterest account there. Search engine yes it’s like a visual search engines so I don’t really think about that a social media although Google sticks in my analytics under social media right when people are looking for things they might find you on Pinterest so search engines and social media of course and when you think about social media it’s not just you posting on social media but is people sharing your products themselves on social media so maybe you don’t use social media at all but you get tons of traffic from Facebook because your customers share your products for their friends so let’s see search engines social media I’m only press and publicity is kind of my big catch all or when people blog about you or write about you or if anybody is an influencer anyway that’s the catch phrase people use now than influencers just somebody who has an audience and can influence people so if you send your products to an Instagram or who has a huge audience that’s one way to get online press and publicity an online press is great because instead of just talking to your people over and over again you get to go to a pool of new people and talk to a bunch of people who haven’t heard it yet and might be interested in the great thing about online press is your link is really clickable and they can just hop right over. And that other kind of press to get is offline press which is a lot trickier to get people relate to your site that would be if you were in a magazine or newspaper or on TV or even if you had like a podcast data were interviewed on. Make your about it or read it but they can’t instantly click over your site ask more about your name recognition there. I’m and then not. What is number 5 ovoid. Right. We’ll leave it in person my number 5. I mean. In prison would be like if you have a brick and mortar shop or if you go to you. Crafts fairs or markets or your sold in stories people can find out about you there if you like I’m missing number 5 you need. There’s a word of mouth I just I. What if you’re in your fifties yeah I got I can’t believe I forgot about return visitors okay all my gosh return I don’t drink coffee that’s probably the problem. Return visitors is so important and I’m I’ve taken it upon myself every time we have a new client LED I pop right in there and I’m like let’s talk about your mailing list even though that’s not what we’re doing with them at all because it drives me absolutely bonkers when people are trying to build a business and they don’t have a mail list so when somebody has purchased from you before. They are much easier to commence the project again in a brand new person like much much much easier. Yeah. When we look at our clients that their conversion rate for the whole site might be I don’t know 4 percent rate and then we look at the conversion rate or when they send a newsletter and those people converted 9 percent or 10 percent it’s amazing and it’s beautiful. Don’t neglect your return customers and remember that customers talk to their friends and their family about you know the amazing jewelry they’re wearing or whatever it is you do that they bought and so being really awesome with your customer experience in your customer service and all that is. Rates you get new people that. Yeah I’m so we kind of talked about you know increasing traffic we’ve talked about increasing our website how are we knowing which bucket we’re in. Hello which when did you first. And and I’m sure that there is also some like balancing acted like you start to do one and then you need to do the other and then it’s probably like if you saw your can constantly going back and forth right. True so I am going to my ear not just me. I’m not hearing that. Gonna try to. Acting now. Okay so balancing act between your traffic in your conversion rate. I’m. If you know your website is just terrible like if you just noticed her whole work on that of course because you don’t want to spend a lot of time and trouble sending people to a website that is embarrassing were terrible are hardly works but if you feel like you put together a website that is pretty decent and it’s probably going to work then the first thing you want to do is build your traffic. So once you’ve got traffic going then you can start seeing how well it’s working and that is when you can start messing with things like your shipping rates for your product descriptions are what you show on the homepage or what your policies are or what your by button looks like what when everything’s that you think might be slowing people down once you’re getting a decent amount of traffic that’s when you can optimize and so we kind of see we’ve seen that there’s a few different levels I’m after after we launch a client’s site the last year or 2 weeping coming back 6 months later to analyze their stats so we have a report from before we launched and then the check and see how they’re doing it 6 months and we have found that if you get less than 1000 visitors per month it’s really hard to get super insightful data from that so that point it makes a lot of sense to try and build your shop if you’re getting between maybe 3000 visitors per month that’s where you’re there nice about balancing point where you do want more traffic but you can also start optimizing your site improving it and then we kind of found like once you get in more than 2000 visitors per month that’s when you really can start making things work a lot better that feels like you’re more established you’re not struggling to get traffic all the time and now you can try and find 2 things and see what’s gonna make actual improvements yeah so how are we how are we because I sometimes and one of those people who like gets bogged down in okay this sounds great but how like in a like track what these numbers are hell making this seat in the buy button that blue is better than the buy it button that. No green how do I how to a lake. Logistically do this. Right so that’s a great question because if you start poking around in trying to learn about conversion rate you’ll like get into the world of EDT testing re try like option a an option being in you see which one actually works better I don’t think a small creative business needs to dig into anything really complicated and you don’t want to try and do what the giant businesses are doing because it’s gonna be hard for you to understand the results and it’s just the kind of work or not huge gain where I would concentrate on instead is just the very basic things that really do trip people up when they’re trying to stop beyond the document I put together without a lot of them there’s things like your shop navigation has to be clear and easy to understand people should be able to search and find what they want to find on this site easily your photography needs to be absolutely beautiful and it needs to help people understand how big the product is or what it would look like on a person or in the home or something like that photography is huge I would say probably shipping and then photography if you’re trying to figure out how to improve your site I’m just look at all the really obvious places where people can get hung up one thing that I like to do is user testing and I talk about that a bit you in the PDF on user testing can be as simple as grabbing your best friend and went down to run your website and saying trying to find pearl earrings and buy them and they just never talk aloud while she does it and you can see where something that you thought made perfect sense is very. And you know what am I also have some resources or doing user testing in our I’m using software. In your real customers not interesting to look at. I think you definitely don’t want to launch a new website redesigned website without having at least somebody look at it like a second. So much that can be confusing working go wrong I think those are all good places to start looking when you feel like you can make some improvements yeah so we have a follow up on shipping so our Kristin asked us all about should be offering free shipping make you look desperate I’ve heard this kicking around and she’s really curious to hear your view point she’s inclined offer free shipping over a dollar amount like you suggested but this concern keeps coming up what’s kind of your reaction to that. You don’t think free shipping makes you look desperate at all I think the thing is very standard for ecommerce sites and people expected I think they get disappointed when they find out they have to pay for shipping I do think that offering discounts can work desperate or even if it doesn’t look desperate it can make people think oh I won’t buy now will wait till she has another discount but I don’t think freeshipping balls in that area at all yeah I ate Coles is my example first for discounts like my monologues cold but she like she goes in there with like this stack of coupons. Buys the thing on sale that is already discounted within like stacks all these coupons on it she was telling me the other day she got this pair of pants for $2. My. A whole other issue but. Right answering. Refuses to buy anything Albright calls because they just give her all these discount so I think that you can train your customers to expect discounts but I think I I agree I think that as a consumer when I shop online you know like especially things like Amazon prime just trained us but like 2 day shipping is just include it free 2 day shipping and so I think depending upon your product you know like if you’re doing you know obviously if you’re doing like original paintings and those kinds of things like the what you would need to charge for your paintings in order have free shipping with us you know insurance and all that you need to do to ship the product is a little bit different than AB with prince and the like and you know kind of smaller products. That there is that I am and I know that I know that this person in particular does to you both original art and prints I’m so I think that there can be a disconnect between the kinds of things you offer free shipping on but again you’re talking about a different customer to a different kind of point and so I think that that. Is it okay to say we offer free shipping on friends if your order is over that we can’t offer free shipping on originals just because of the what goes into shipping products yeah that makes sense and if you know you’re going to be selling online as part of your business plan when you’re working on your pricing you just need to factor shipping into how you decide to price your product it shouldn’t be a surprise for you. Yeah so perfect hopefully that answers your question. So we’ve started to make these weeks we’ve started to increase traffic were on this kind of Esau of increasing traffic making tweaks to our website when is it how often do we need to like reestablished read plan look at things kind of how do we you kind of figure out what that looks like. Do you think that I would like to recommend that you look at your stats at the very least quarterly like maybe you have a couple reports that you’re familiar with then you look at every week or if you’ve just done a big campaign and you want to see how it did of course take a look at that but I don’t think you should go longer than 3 months without taking a good look at how everything is working and being more thorough about it. A website. Just does not last very long hate you can’t like you can set up a brick and mortar shop and then leave it pretty much as it is for 10 years and it’s still going to work but technology changes so often with websites and the weak people shop changes and just the way your customers are gonna feel about things like shipping like like you said crime is trained everybody to inspect the ship things of that type of thing where changes in the industry are going to affect how your own site works even if you didn’t make any changes. So I don’t think you need to overhaul your website completely all the time but I definitely think you should be popping in looking at making tweaks and adjustments and fixing little things your content should always be changing in updating so it looks new and fresh in there you don’t want to keep the very same thing on your homepage forever for instance and. Yeah you can expect your website to last forever but it will last longer if you take a look at your stats and see what’s working best and what’s not working and make adjustments as time goes by that’s a really good thing. Perfect so. What did we. Arm we haven’t really talked about any sort of content marketing and pay a traffic and kind of those kinds of ways to. Increase sales. So content marketing do you have to blog if you have a shop. The content marketing. I think everybody should have a blog but no you don’t have to hobble blog there is a lot of other ways to do content marketing if I can hence my very favorite thing a blog just a little bit. If you have a blog the great thing about blogs is it fills your site up with many many pages many many keyboards that you want Google to find you boring Google loves blogs and it’s a great way to show up more highlands search engines in once you’re blocking you find that all your other social media stuff just gets easier so it’s easier to send a newsletter if you’ve already written an article on your blog that week you can mention it or write about it or point people to it. I find it easier to do social media because I can just grab stuff from my blog post and make it look. So media it’s kind of like a blanket for the hope that all of my constant marketing goes out room and I love it and you can do it on any commerce site of course we like Shopify and Shopify has pretty good quality I mean it’s not as high powered as wordpress but lets you have some really intense lobbying plans you don’t need to hurt. Was your house like a gazillion pieces of content and yeah yeah. We we got some pretty huge logs on Shopify but like yeah if you need a bunch of different plugins and like advertising stop and all kinds of crazy things. You would like wordpress but I’m. Why game but if you decide you don’t want to live firstly you can plug anyway because maybe you’re not a great writer but you have beautiful photography you don’t have to write like piles and piles and piles of words blog lighting can be like if you feel comfortable on Instagram you practically written a blog already with your photo your caption why not put it on your site and get a little more Google traffic and have people were interested but if you really really really don’t. You have a lot of content on your site that you can think about as far as Google does so all the text on the homepage all of your product descriptions all the photography you use all that kind of stuff helps you with Google and you can use it for all the other things we talked about like you can grab your product description in your product and put them on Instagram Facebook or whatever so when do you think of yourself as a content market or not if you’re doing any marketing online and you have any content which is just you’re texting your photos you are doing marketing and it’s really not that bad. Yeah. So at this point in time if you’re joining us on Facebook or on YouTube and you’ve left the question unfortunately we can’t see them. And about we will hop over and hopefully a truck then later if you want to make sure I get to get the answer right now there’s links to take you over the crowd cast to go ahead and hop over and join us here a which is where we can see the questions live and where we’ve been polling so those of you who are here live. I think at this point we’re gonna start transitioning into the kind of culinary portions so start throwing your questions down there I know several of you are on the ill Lydia army newsletter listed you’ve already seen this PDF and maybe have a chance to dig into it and I don’t have a more high level questions on it I think the great a great one to start with and is another question from Kristin. Excuse me. Asked about kind of the path and I know you’re going to cover this in the PDS the past to purchase so what should you keep in mind to make your store easier to navigate so that someone can land on the page and end up at the cart and checking out. Yeah the path to purchase so you can also think about this as kind of your purchase final right think maybe most everybody dump on your homepage or you know maybe you got lucky and you’ve got some interest directing everybody to a category or an item in your shop or something like wherever people land on your site there in the big wide part of the final and people are gonna drop off and drop off into you have just whoever decides to check out after that if you shop by yourself up my stats will show you how many people out of the products are and then I guess ministers of how many people are on the site and then how many people out of products to cart how many people look at the car and then how many people make it check out and you’ll see that you lose a lot of people want to wait and we just looked at one of our clients stats and she is doing amazing like the amount of drop off between those steps adding to cart looking at the car going to check out is only a percent or 2 each time which is incredible and that shows that people are having a really easy time getting getting what they’re looking for in getting through to check out and actually checking out sometimes will see that you lose like half the people added to cart you leave them on the cart page and they don’t go through the checkout and that’s when you know there’s something in that like something that happened stopping people from going ahead and often again I hate to hammer and shipping probably your shipping rates. So you want to look and see where you’re losing people. And see if there’s anything that you can do to help make it easier so it might be something you haven’t even thought of like maybe there’s a question people have about your product and they can’t find the answer in the description and you don’t have an FAQ or something and it just feels like a lot of trouble to ask you like to write an email and whatever people won’t bother to do unfortunately so just try to answer every possible question people may have is a really great thing to do so you talked about funnel and people dropping off and she’s only losing a percentage as people drop logs on and then if you’re losing you know almost half the people so what are we thinking on the perfect ideal scenario what can we aim to look back when were at different stages. I don’t know if I knew the answers that I mean perfectly beat everybody would come to you live from you. 100. Right. You’ve got a high goal. You know what I am not exactly sure what that would be I do know that I was super impressed to see that our client was only losing a couple present people on each step so I would think that’s definitely possible because I see no. And the great thing to in order I think losing half the people is I don’t know if that’s the bottom of the range I’m sure I haven’t seen the worst of the worst 1 I’ve been looking at people that but that’s definitely a red flag there that there is something that you can improve and if you like we can just go all the way back to conversion rate if you’re getting 2000 visitors per month but less than half of a person converting to sales there’s definitely something wrong with your site and if you’re getting more like 2345 percent that’s great made you can focus on getting more traffic while you work on the site a bit more. But yeah there’s no specific answer and one thing I cover in my PDF is sometimes you will have unrealistic expectations based on what kind of product you have so you mentioned shipping large have the artwork that can be a real barrier to purchase maybe you sell a product that starts at $250 right you’re not going to get a 5 percent conversion rate on a $250 product there just aren’t that many people were willing to spend $250 on the website so you also want to look at what kind of product you’re selling and adjust your expectations there somethings are just harder to buy. Perfect. So Regis question I kind of addressed earlier it’s more one for me and then one for you about best practices to use reviews from elsewhere and specifically in order to encourage trust and sells on your site so you can handle kind of the U. Exide on the legal side. One thing that’s not discussed a lot well first off and she specifically says without permission of the customer you cannot add that person to your email list you cannot use their review your testimony all you can’t use anything that they send you and the messaging system you can’t use it any of that without specific explicit permission from the customer I’m so anti specifically you have to get permission I’m in order to even just add them to your email list when it comes to reviews and things outside of that there is this kind of a little discussed area of law right of publicity that says I have the right to control how you use my name my likeness my photographic center up to sell your product and service and that makes a lot of sense that we can’t just slap Kim Kardashian’s image on our stock but not true goes all the way down to just the average people like that you can’t just use someone’s name to sell your product because they might think old I love you know this I’ve got a business question this person if they’re using it I must need it for my business. I’m in so you must have permission in order to avoid these right of complicity laws in order to use these testimonials on your website on these reviews on on the sales page still kind of function as an endorsement or a reason to buy your product so that’s kind of from the legal side and as I said I’ve got an entire article that dive into this in this month’s issue of artists journal which is kind of what how I’ve switched from like straight blogging to kind of creating these digital magazines this year I’m in so you can grab that using that crop. Issue button below and. Social proof we haven’t really talked about that you know kind of how do you use these things from a US standpoint in order to create trust and transparency with your with your client. I love that topic because this is another thing that customers have gotten used to online like if I go to stop us and I want to buy shoes I’m not just going to click the buy button without reading the reviews that would be insane I need to go back to you but like it’s either going to bed or if they were uncomfortable or if I can you know walk around London for 9:00 hours and survive like that kind of thing so once people get in the mode of checking reviews on Amazon or Zappos or wherever when they come to your site there are no reviews it kind of feels like taking a leap of faith so if you can get some reviews on there that is a great thing to do one thing I would encourage is you don’t really want to start trickling reviews onto your site I don’t think because if you only have one review for every 5 product that looks a little sad and it makes you look at it smaller than you or anything so if I was going to set up an E. commerce site I want to get some reviews on there what I would do is I would email all my past best customers and that number refusing someway offer them something in return and trying to get like a a decent group open to start with. Another great thing about reviews which I just discovered recently I love it when I find out something new about getting traffic but when you start getting reviews on site Google actually loves that and the ranking more highly and they on certain sites they will show your review star rating in your Google search results like it here on yelp or something like that all your business name and then the number of stars and it gets people really confident feeling and I’ll be a lot better purchasing from you eons there’s another exercising it so exciting. But when a customer writes a review of your business you’re writing a review in their language like the magic customer language that when people are searching the type of words than a real shocker we use are the type of work search your reviews and they can be much more likely to find your site based on that review tax game review. Yes. So you think that influenced Rachel’s question. Thanks for liking the artist’s journal this is issue number 2 I’m having so much fun creating them. That you guys are liking that because it like is totally my jam but I can like only focus on one topic as I like create it for 6 weeks and then talk about it with you guys for 6 weeks. It’s a lot of fun I’m glad you’re liking it too on racial. Linking to that at sea shock reviews is that kosher so if you’re just saying senior my reviews out at sea you’re not posting them on your site so. God it without going back and looking at the terms of service got says that’s okay because you’re not reposting that anti review on to your site you’re just saying to see reviews of my products head over to see and those customers have manually enter those reviews cells so you you would be able. I just would be off the top of my head without digging into the terms of service but I can’t in linking I can imagine. I can’t imagine that well there’s there’s a whole case law about in line I’m still trying to wrap my brain around but I don’t think about what I’m coming to play here. So are we going to question it says is it better to use keyword rich descriptions on your website or keep it short and sweet and put the key words in the blog and other content one issue with descriptions is content duplication on similar products. Yeah so I’m thinking kind of want to do both so I think you can keep it short and sweet and also be keyword rich you don’t have to write paragraphs and paragraphs and paragraphs there was an old school method of doing search engine optimization where you would just like put this huge pile of key words at the end of everything you wrote but Google hits that that doesn’t work anymore in fact it’s probably going to get you penalize so just when you’re writing your product description I think the best thing to do is to think about how your customer would describe the products what they’d be using it or or you know if there are if people buy your jewelry is yeah it’s worth mentioning like great gift for mother in the product description because then you get more people who are looking for that kind of thing so when you’re going out of writing thinking about why people might be buying is a great thing to do and then just a few words of what your product is made out of and everything makes sense to you I’m if you’re having duplicate descriptions across all of your products. I think that’s a place where you can just go in and write first new descriptions for everything the only reason you have to click it descriptions if you’re trying to save yourself some time of course it’s great to save yourself sometime but not to the detriment sales so if you feel like it’s detrimental I would spend some time to go in there and just get everything being a little bit more unique and interesting and keep people’s attention and then you got working within their critical. Perfect. So any and that’s all the questions I’m seeing right now will give everyone a moment to kind of throw any additional questions anything we haven’t covered that you saw we were we should head on today. Alright you answer that question. So the question that got the most votes this week that I will be starting on Friday. Has to do with what steps you’re gonna take when someone copies or steals your work on it and how does my answer differ when a fellow creative business owner first is a big box retailer. So because of how we do goes on. There are unfortunately I haven’t figured out a way to do the like send me the reminder things for it arms so those happen on Fridays at 10:00 AM Pacific 1:00 PM eastern I’m so if you want to know the answer to that question tune in live or you can just go ahead and like the Facebook page and see it arm at a later point in time so those are the things I wanted to make sure to let you know before we wrap up for today I’m I’m not seeing any other questions so thanks so much for joining us today thanks so much for sharing Sherlock PS one more time with them.
